Had a great meal here. Great wine selection and very friendly staff. The food is fresh, seasonal, and ingredient driven. Quality over quantity. The Chef goes to the market often and uses local products which means the menu is always changing. If you're looking for a more casual dining experience, they have a great tapas menu in the bar at night. The ambience of the restaurant and hotel is very artfully designed and decorated beautifully. I would highly recommend

Great food served with a side of snark.
Our party enjoyed a fabulous luncheon at N° 8 recently. I found the menu to be quite inspired and the presentation to be stellar. The service was reprehensible.
I started with the Terrine (menu attached for reference), which was served contemporaneously (yes, not staged) with the filet de flétan noir. My wine, which I'd ordered prior to the starter, arrived just as I was finishing my main. The look on my face must've suggested my dissatisfaction of such to the server, who simply muttered "someone was hungry".
I'll save the server, the manager on duty and the restaurant the embarrassment of detailing the events that occurred thereafter and the exchanges that took place that afternoon amongst the staff and members of my party - and the horrid details of what happened when the restaurant wasn't cautious about cross-contact when advised (in advance) a finned fish allergy.
I would, however, like to personally thank the lovely Scottish woman, who so graciously offered my spouse (a native English speaker) an English grammar lesson - because as is custom in the Ariège, it would be impolite NOT to correct a patron's speech when asking where the toilet is.
Anaphylaxis and snarky service aside, I found the food and atmosphere to be absolutely charming. The rest of the waitstaff were fabulous and I will write this particular day off as an abhorrent anomaly. We've had dear friends enjoy the restaurant on other occasions who've enjoyed perfect experiences. 4/5 for me. The food really was that good. I really do look Forward to affording N° 8 an opportunity to redeem themselves on the service front in the future. -

No. 8, Relais de Mirepoix is the old Ciel d'Or with the same Chef de Cuisine and new ownership! Had lunch on a Thursday and had two choices for each of the 3 courses ( soup/salad, main entree, dessert). Generous servings befitting this hearty area of France. The Parisian mushroom soup with leeks was refined comfort perfectly seasoned with poivre . Lot (monkfish) served over a fennel, celery, fresh pea risotto garnished with cilantro and again the perfect amount of poivre. The graduating levels of texture from the celery to fennel to peas to risotto to fish was impressive. The cilantro was an unexpected bite of delight. Dessert was blackberry sorbet over pineapple carpaccio with a refreshing delicate lemon sauce. Chef Karl adds deft delicate touches of unexpected delight and detail to the classic fare. Best Amazing value in the area for 18 Euros!
